Lake Lanier Fishing Report
Lanier Stripers: Spring is here and the trophy stripers are feeding preparing for the Spring spawn. The stripers in Lanier go through the motions but their spawn is unsuccessful. Luckily Lanier has a strong stocking program thanks to the DNR.
Look for the stripers to be shallow all this month. The primary tactic is free lines and planers boards across points and flats all over the lake. Herring will be the primary bait along with gizzard shad.
April is also the start of the top water bite here on Lake Lanier. Spool up a seven foot medium action Fenwick spinning rod with 12 pound Trilene Big Game line and you are good to hit the water. Several lures are hot every year like the Cordell Redfin and the Super Spook. Cast these lures while pulling the herring and you will see some explosive bites. April is one of the best months of the year for catching. See you on the water.
