Lake Lanier Fishing Report May 28, 2016

13245344_10154274939296683_3977385090625924284_n-3Been a great May out on the lake. We have had a very strong topwater bite off and on all month dependent on the weather. Thursday this past week we murdered them on topwater baits like the Redfin and swimbaits like the Sebile Magic Swimmer. Typically the first week of June will bring the Summer heat and the fish will move deeper. As the fish move deeper look for the schools of stripers to get larger and some of the best catching of the year to develop on the downline. The downline being a carolina type rig with a live herring down 30 to 100 feet deep. Sometimes we have to spend an hour looking for the school but once the school is found look for some serious rod bending to be in quick order. Looking forward to a great Summer bite. As always look for week days to be the best fishing as t avoid the weekend boat traffic. Time of day will not make much difference. The afternoon bite will usually be just as strong but be careful of afternoon thunderstorms. If you are like me, I am allergic to lightning. see you on the water,
